Help and Advice from NATFHE

Help with other problems

• Pensions For help and advice about occupational pensions paid through the Teachers' Pension Scheme, contact your branch's local officers, who can call on the support of the NATFHE regional office if necessary.

• For information about benefits, including state pensions, child benefit and other social security provision, contact the Benefits Agency; your nearest branch is listed in the telephone book, or you can get advice and information on the agency's Freeline telephone number: 0345 313233. You can find information about social security provision on the Internet at www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/workage/.

• For information about National Insurance, see the Inland Revenue National Insurance Contributions pages on the HM Revenue & Customs website .

• Income tax allowances An agreement concluded between NATFHE and the Inland Revenue sets out the expenses incurred by FE and HE lecturers for which a tax allowance may be claimed. Details are available from your branch secretary or from Head Office.

• Keep an eye on the NATFHE noticeboard in your workplace for information on key issues and union activities. NATFHE publications also contain important information and advice for members, and The Lecturer is direct-mailed to you six times a year. A full list of publications is available on this website.
