INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO ORGANISING PART-TIME STAFF
|
|
NATFHE’s innovative approach to organising part-time staff at Huddersfield Technical College has paid off says one of the members. ‘Bringing part-time staff together to form their own charter of rights seems like a very simple idea, but perhaps the best ideas are simple. The charter contained 26 demands. Some may sound trivial, such as being included in the college phone directory; others were more ambitious, for example, guaranteeing a minimum number of hours for staff on variable hours contracts. Our group has made significant and groundbreaking progress already and, because we own it, it is likely to continue.’
