Working as a lecturer in adult and community education
If you get a teaching post in adult and community education your employer may
be a local FE college, the adult education service or national or local
voluntary organisation. You should go to FE Pay
and Conditions or check with your local NATFHE branch or the Colleges
Department if you are unclear about the terms and conditions of your employment.
Your employment as an adult education teacher is likely to be on a part-time
basis; you can check out here how NATFHE is
campaigning for the implementation of equality laws for part-time staff.
If you have taken advantage of free associate membership of the union while
you have studied to teach in post-school education, you can take out full membership on appointment to a post in
adult education. NATFHE represents adult education lecturers on industrial
relations and professional matters, and holds conferences and publishes material
for lecturers working in adult education.
