If you have an injury at work or become ill you can win redress through NATFHE's Accident Aid - part of our new legal scheme for members.

Every year thousands of accidents take place in universities and colleges. While we hope most will result in no, or very minor, injury, some may have devastating and life changing consequences.

NATFHE offers a wholly cost-free compensation scheme to members. From 1 April 2002, all new personal injury claims will be handled by the union on a 'no win, no fee' basis. As in the past, the service will be cost-free to members. But now you choose which firm you would like to act for you, and get in touch with them direct, by telephone, email or via their website. You will need to provide your NATFHE membership number when you contact the solicitors.

Once your accident claim is checked by your chosen firm, they will run the case on your behalf on a 'no win, no fee' basis. NATFHE will meet any insurance premium payable, and any incidental costs, such as obtaining expert medical evidence.

Whatever your problem is, don't wait too long before you try to sort it out; strictly-enforced time limits apply in many areas, and you should not let these run out before you take action.

Please note that because of the complexity and difficulty of stress-related personal injury claims, these cannot be handled on a 'no win, no fee' basis and will be dealt under slightly different arrangements. Contact your regional office for details.
