Union Learning Representatives

TRAINING COURSES

A three day course for the Anglia, London, Southern, South East and South West regions will be held on 13-15 June 2006 at NATFHE Head Office in London. See below for details on how to apply.

The three day course for the South West & Western regions scheduled for 7, 22 and 30 March 2006 in London has been cancelled.

NATFHE’s Union Learning Representatives (ULR’s) are a new category of activists who play an important role in dealing with professional development, training and learning needs in NATFHE branches and workplaces. By working with the branch and management, ULR’s ensure that staff training needs are met and that management does not solely control the learning and professional development agenda. In order to be accredited as a ULR, activists need to complete NATFHE’s tailor made three-day training course.

COURSE CONTENT

the role of a ULR
rights and time off for ULR’s
learning needs analysis
workplace learning agreements
briefings on recent government policies for staff development such as the implications for Success for All, funding issues and college development plans.

You have a right to paid time off to attend the training, in addition to your branches current allocation of time off.

These courses are accredited by the Open College Network, and run for NATFHE in conjunction with the TUC.
