Women currently make up 47% of NATFHE’s membership (39% of the HE membership, and 53% of the FE membership).
There are five reserved seats for women on the National Executive Council (see Structures) and there are currently 15 women and 25 men on that body.
The Women's Group of the Equality Advisory Council is currently chaired by Mary Davis.

The website you will find most useful for issues of concern to women is that of The Equal Opportunities Commission. For a specialist website with expert legal advice on sex discrimination and equal pay visit www.eoc-law.org.uk.
Their current major campaign is on equal pay, because a report has
revealed that Britain still has a gender pay gap of 18%, the worst in
Europe, 30 years after The Equal Pay Act. NATFHE is supporting the
campaign, and materials will be posted soon.
The government has recently appointed two Ministers for Women, supported by the Women and Equality Unit.
The Minister for Women in the Cabinet is the Rt. Hon. Patricia Hewitt
MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. She is supported by
Jacqui Smith MP, Deputy Minister for Women and Equality. Alan Johnson (Department of Trade and Industry) has responsibility for Equal Pay and Work-Life Balance.
