NIACE wants your views on ESOL
The NIACE Committee of Enquiry into English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) would like to hear your views. You can respond via the consultation questionnaire on the website which can be foundĀ under 'Consultation Documents' - www.niace.org.uk/projects/esol-enquiry/. It has information about the background to the enquiry, the remit, the committee members, and the research materials. A scoping paper sets out the issues for ESOL drawn from the literature search which is under way and which is intended to be an important output of the enquiry.
- The enquiry will focus onĀ five areas:
- definition, purpose and need for ESOL
- leadership and management
- quality of teaching, learning and support
- teacher training
- funding
NIACE wants evidence on all these issues to help them make recommendations. They are taking evidence until the end of May but would especially like responses by the end of January.
