UNION POLICY OFFICER

Salary: Scale 6 (£22,569 to £24,033) p.a. plus London Weighting of £3,186 p.a.

Located in King’s Cross WC1

You will support the General Secretary’s Office on inter-union relations and specific joint union projects and will provide support for TUC work including policy back-up and admin assistance for TUC delegates. Some attendance at meetings on TUC-related work will be necessary.

You will be the first point of contact in supplying information on employment rights within the Union and will assist with the further development of health and safety work.

Writing and producing background briefings on employment rights, equality, health and safety, pensions and for joint union projects will also form part of your duties. There will be occasional attendance at events which will require overnight stays.

You will have knowledge of the purposes and processes of trade unions, a solid awareness of trade union equality objectives and a developing understanding of employment rights for trade unionists.

With experience of organising meetings, events and writing briefings, you will have good oral/written communication and presentation skills.
