The union for lecturers

Are you a student training to be a lecturer in further or higher education, or a postgraduate student in a 'new' university or college of HE planning a career in higher education? You should take advantage of FREE associateship of NATFHE-The University & College Lecturers' Union.

NATFHE represents 68,000 lecturers working in further education, the 'new' universities and colleges of higher education, and adult, penal and land-based education and youth training in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our members teach more than half of all students in post-school education.

With our wealth of expertise, NATFHE is a key professional association for lecturers and offers the support of a union dedicated to protect and promote the interests of teachers in post-school education. We offer:
• free NATFHE associateship for one year for students (with a further free year if you don't get a job on completion of training) or postgraduates.
• advice and information on educational and professional matters
• our newspaper, The Lecturer , delivered direct to your home five times a year
• free subscription for the calendar year to the quarterly Journal of Further and Higher Education - with on-line access
• a free academic year diary.

With a wide range of sevices and benefits , including:
• free insurance against loss of property/serious accident while on teaching practice

And a chance to take part in the union :
• the right to form NATFHE student groups where there are enough student associates in your institution, to stand for office in the group and vote for officers of the group;
• the right to attend (in a non-voting capacity) meetings of the relevant NATFHE branch when you are on teaching practice.
